Business Development Manager, Venom and Research Biologicals
The Business Development Manager is responsible for growing sales of crude scorpion venom and related research biologicals across Europe, and is the company’s commercial presence in the region. The role covers the full commercial cycle, from identifying and qualifying prospective customers through the technical dialogue that precedes a first order, to developing accounts into recurring supply relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and qualify prospective customers among antivenom manufacturers, academic and institutional research groups, and biotechnology companies working with venom-derived peptides.
- Manage the sales cycle from first contact to order, including technical presentations, specification and sample requests, quotations and contract negotiation.
- Support customers through supplier qualification and audit, working with the Laboratory and Quality Management Department on specification, documentation and compliance questions.
- Develop first orders into framework agreements and recurring supply, and maintain relationships with key accounts.
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing and regulatory developments affecting the supply of biological materials into the EU and the UK, and report to the board.
- Represent the company at scientific conferences and trade events.
- Maintain pipeline, forecast and account records, and report performance against agreed targets.
Required qualifications
- Degree in a life sciences discipline such as biology, biochemistry, pharmacy or biotechnology.
- At least five years in business development or technical sales, in pharmaceuticals, life science reagents or biological raw materials.
- Demonstrable record of meeting sales targets for a technically specified B2B product.
- Working knowledge of the documentation customers require for biological materials, including certificates of analysis, safety data sheets and destination import requirements.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Willingness to travel within Europe and to Egypt.
Preferred
- Experience selling to antivenom producers, ion-channel pharmacology groups or peptide manufacturers.
- German or French.
- Familiarity with the Nagoya Protocol and Regulation (EU) No 511/2014 as they apply to biological material.
Sales Manager, Pharmaceuticals
The Sales Manager is responsible for the pharmaceutical portfolio across the Gulf and North Africa, covering diabetes and metabolic care, growth hormone therapy, insulins and vaccines. The role develops and manages accounts with hospitals, clinics, pharmacy groups and medical companies sourcing on behalf of their own customers, and works closely with the export documentation function so that every quotation reflects the destination market’s import requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and manage accounts across hospitals, clinics, pharmacy chains, distributors and medical trading companies in the Gulf and North Africa.
- Prepare and negotiate quotations and supply agreements, coordinating on destination-specific documentation and lead times before pricing is issued.
- Identify new markets and customers within the therapeutic areas supplied, and assess whether each product can be supplied compliantly into the territory concerned.
- Manage tender business, including preparation and submission of tender documentation.
- Maintain a sales pipeline and forecast, and report performance against agreed targets.
- Monitor market pricing, competitor activity and product availability, and advise on portfolio decisions.
- Ensure activity complies with the pharmaceutical distribution requirements applicable in the markets served.
Required qualifications
- Degree in pharmacy, life sciences or business administration.
- At least five years in pharmaceutical sales or distribution in the Gulf or North Africa, including direct experience with prescription products.
- Working knowledge of import and registration requirements for pharmaceuticals in at least one GCC or North African market.
- Experience with cold chain products.
- Fluent Arabic and English.
Preferred
- Experience in wholesale or distribution rather than manufacturer field sales.
- An established network among hospital procurement, pharmacy groups or distributors in the region.
- Experience with public tender business.
Export Documentation and Logistics Coordinator
The Export Documentation and Logistics Coordinator prepares the documentation and arranges the transport for every outbound shipment, so that consignments leave Egypt correctly documented and arrive in the condition and with the paperwork the destination market requires. The role works alongside the sales functions and the Laboratory and Quality Management Department.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and check export documentation for each shipment, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, certificates of analysis, safety data sheets and end-user declarations.
- Arrange transport with freight forwarders and couriers, obtain and compare rates, book shipments and track them through to delivery.
- Arrange cold chain packaging and temperature monitoring where the product requires it, and supply the supporting records to customers who request them.
- Manage customs clearance for export from Egypt, and liaise with customs brokers and authorities at destination.
- Confirm destination import requirements before quotations are issued, and maintain a record of requirements and precedents for each market served.
- Prepare document sets that comply with the terms of a letter of credit.
- Resolve delays, discrepancies and non-conformities with forwarders, carriers and customers.
- Maintain shipment records for the retention periods required by Egyptian commercial and tax law.
Required qualifications
- Degree in logistics, supply chain management, international trade or business administration, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least three years in export documentation or freight forwarding in Egypt, preferably with pharmaceutical, biological or other regulated goods.
- Working knowledge of Incoterms 2020, customs procedures and export documentation requirements.
- Experience with letters of credit.
- Fluent Arabic and English.
- Competent with ERP or shipping systems and with Microsoft Office.
Preferred
- Experience with temperature-controlled shipments and Good Distribution Practice.
- Experience shipping material of animal origin, or other goods subject to biological-material controls.
- Dangerous goods training, IATA DGR or ADR.
